The driver takes some fares and was near ready to depart on 28/4/95 Brand new Scanias 3437, 3432 & 3457 (still to be registered) undergo testing at Scania on 13/1/94 A brand new 3471 at the Tamworth factory, 6/4/94 These is chassis became 3481 & 3482 (which is closest to the camera). The class leader of the MKIII's 2516 at Quay East, 12/81 2516 had its life shortened by taking a dip in the harbour at Darling St. Wharf on 28/12/88. The vehicle sits between 2 Leopards at Chullora, 22/6/89 2518 sits with MKI Leopard 3618 at Quay East, 12/5/82 Accident damaged 2524 sits at Tempe, 3/2/02 2629 at Eddy Ave back in the days when the 891 was the 691, 1/5/91 2520 was the first MKIII withdrawn. On Victoria Road, 1/1/87 it suffered major front end and fire damage to the rear. It waits in the grass at Chullora on 19/3/87 with another accident victim. 2529 returned to service but 2520 was written off A rear view of the fire damage to 2520 To celebrate 50 Years of Government Bus Services in Sydney (1932-1982) 2664 was outshopped in this very impressive livery. Willoughby's AEC 2542 was on loan to Leichhardt and departs the Quay for Balmain on 14/3/79 shortly before withdrawal AEC 2550 & 2567 were on staff bus duties when photographed in 1971 AEC 2788 arrives at the then new Bondi Junction Interchange during the farewell tour for AEC Regal IV's. A new MKII Mercedes follows, 21/7/79 Leyland OPD2 2817 was near withdrawal when photographed at the Quay, 16/1/76 AEC 2895 is about to depart the Quay for Five Dock on 11/12/79. With AEC Regal IV operation to cease on 21/12/79 withdrawal was only 10 days away AEC 2946 sits with MKII Mercedes 2014 at Quay East, 19/9/79 Leyland 3068 was rebuilt with the later style front after an accident with a telegraph pole at Lane Cove back in 1958. 3068 is checked off by the Inspector at Circular Quay, 7/9/82 Leyland 3100 at the Repat. Hospital, Concord in DGT days, 1968 Leyland 3100 at Hickson Road parking area in UTA days, 1981 Leyland 3274 was involved in an accident with Atlantean 1059 at The Spit on 22/6/83. The bus waits at Chullora on 6/1/86 for disposal AEC 3388 was one of the last AEC Regal IV's to operate in traffic on 21/12/79. Photo taken at Circular Quay, 11/12/79 only 10 days before withdrawal Leyland 3516 was one of only ten remaining ERT1/1's in traffic. I had MKII Merc 2294 which became defective and this was my 'changeover'. Leyland TD4 1268 (as Chapman's m/o.4101) overturned at Fullerton Cove on 4/12/60. The bus was repaired. Later on in life 1268 was also invloved in a level crossing accident Accident damaged 'lowbridge' Leyland TD5 at Hamilton Depot, 1948 (Me) & 1482 was a 'lowbridge' Leyland TD5. New in 3/38 and withdrawn 1/53 1482 saw further service in a private bus co. The remains of the body was found near Terrabanella, 24/4/93 Leyland RTS8 1486 passes under a railway bridge that is only suitable for single deck buses at Ashfield, 1/48 Leyland TD5 1516 waits for time at Newcastle terminus, 30/8/52 AEC 1581 less than 1 month out of overhaul waits for time at Dolls Point, 7/8/49 White NC 1093 (as W A Gardner's m/o.140). Built by Smith & Waddington in 1927.Photographed on 30/1/50 back in the days when the Royal National Park was known as 'National Park'. 1093 was withdrawn from DRT&T service in 1/41 Leyland TD1 1003 at Leichhardt Workshops in 6/47 Leyland TD1 1003 (as R Norman's MO131). Photographed at Weston on 13/4/52 Leyland TD4 1412, Newcastle, 20/5/47 Leyland TD5 1431 (as NYB993) holds the distinction of being the first double decker bus to operate in Queensland. The last 367's had operated and this was the first day of the 357, 3/11/86 3934 was the last of its type in service in Newcastle (with PMC body & ratchet style hand brake) and is seen taking up passengers for the journey to Glebe in Scott Street on 1/5/89 shortly before withdrawal Myself and 1543 at Vaucluse High School, 17/6/86 THE VERTICAL EXHAUST STACK Although this view of 1670 was taken in PTC days the vertical exhaust stack had been removed by the time of the photograph but you will notice that the passenger window at the rear is not a full sized one. Photo taken, Qld, 1/06 (from I Lynas collection) The IBC Cat (with an identical MKII body style) was built by PMC for Ian Campbell as a demonstrator for the UTA in 3/80. However it never operated on any UTA services and after it returned to Campbell's was sold to Chester Hill-Bankstown B/S where it became m/o.5589 A rear view of the IBC Cat Prototype MKII 1951 near new, 10/78 1951 at Quay East, 1983 1951 was overhauled in 4/86 and is seen at Railway Square bound for Millers Point on 14/2/90, not long before withdrawal 1966 on its last full day in traffic. Photographed in Burwood Depot yard, 1/11/00 The next day 1966 arrives at Tempe for withdrawal 1967 was on loan to Port Botany to cater for extra patronage whilst the 'tall ships' were visiting, 20/1/88 1970 was only 1 month old when photographed at Quay East surrounded by Leopards, 11/78 1970 as overhauled. Now operating out of Kingsgrove/Tempe. First using 666 as the route number this was soon changed to 66 due to complaints received that '666' is the devils number! 2007 is followed along Alfred Street by 2372 in the afternoon peak, 6/3/91 2010 waits for time at the QVB, 27/11/90 2010 later in life departing the Quay for Coogee, 16/11/99 Ryde's 2011 was on loan to Port Botany during the tall ships visit and was photographed in Eddy Ave, 19/1/88 2014 waits with other accident victims at Chullora Workshops for repair, 13/9/85 Accident damaged 2016 in Randwick yard, 28/1/90 2023 was on loan to Waverley from Randwick. 2046 is departing and will run 'special' back to the shed. Photographed at North Bondi, 24/10/95 2029 at Bronte, 1985 2029 had its life cut short when burnt out at Hamilton Depot on 4/7/89. Stripped for parts 2029 ended its days at Boolaroo Wreckers and was broken up in 1995 2033 was transferred from Hamilton to Willoughby in 9/96 but was still displaying 'Newcastle Buses' when photographed at Taronga on rte 247 2054 was the first to be repainted into 'corporate colours'. I saw this bus as early as December, 1992 in this livery. Photo taken, Circular Quay, 27/9/93 2064 was reregistered as m/o.7235 for only 4 days due to a lost plate. Just fresh back from Chullora after overhaul, 13/5/88 2075 was refurbished by Action. Photographed at Railway Colonnade Waverley's 2075 was about to depart on an 'Airport Express' due to a shortage of PMC160's, 17/9/95 2087 remained unoverhauled throughout its Government career and is just about to run 'special' back to Waverley Depot after operating an evening peak hour 323.
